Stories with Horses

Stop for a moment.  Think about these horses
In their sweet smelling silence

The interplay of text and image has always intrigued me.  Each have their own life and meaning, but when they they meet a third element emerges.  Text, in all its order and rigid straightness dialogues with the curves and lines that shape the image.  The eye follows one then the other, then with a few steps back, both meet to form this third element, a story.  As with every story, there is a beginning and that may be the first detail that jumps out, the initial grasp for attention.  The eye does not settle in one place and journeys to the next, and the story develops.  As with every story, there are pauses and breaks, to allow for rest.  As the story reaches for a conclusion, it looks to linger in the mind beyond just the moment.  Any good story doesn’t just disappear or fall from consciousness.  The stories I hold within me shape who I am (I never want them to leave!). Horses, I want stories with horses.  That may be all there is to it.
