Sunday Mornings
Every Sunday morning, as get ready to go to church, I comb through pictures on my phone or on my ipad. I find ones that have something special to say, either an expression on the face of one of my kids or the light captured on the edge of the water. Once at Church, I sing and pray and thank God for the week that has gone by and the one that is about to begin, and then I draw. Putting pen or pencil to paper during the service used to be something I cringed about, felt like it was the wrong place to do so and frowned upon by so many people (I'm often worried about what people think, darn people pleaser mentality!) Now that I am grown up, a father of three kids and the husband to my wife, I see that who I am is not disconnected from the person who sits in church, absorbs the surroundings, listens with an attentive hear, and begins to draw. That's who I am. I worship and give thanks by chosing to be creative.
