Collage at Imagine Children's Museum 12/31/2012

Here's the lead in Sketch, where I have taken several ideas and spun them around until a collage can be created.  The original picture is based off a Land of Nod catalog picture.  Elements that drew me to this were the movement, the universal theme of childhood, the stars draped from the ceiling, and the ability to modify the background and many different ways, ideal for collage work (purple was chosen to give the gold an extra element of pop).

This is about 2.5 hours of work into it.  The background is blocked in and now detail can be built up.  Looking forward to see what happens with it.  This was created for the Imagine Children's Museum up in Everett, WA for their New Year's Eve Party.

Here's a few weeks later, about 90% complete.  Some parts still working on include figuring out the shadow color on the legs and refining a few details.  Hopefully done soon!  edited January 13th, 2012
