Progress on Family Portrait
Here's a family portrait that I am currently working on. It's a composite of two pictures into one, and the tricky part is to make sure there is a natural feel to this combination. The lighting is similar in both pictures which allows for easier, accurate shadowing and blending. When drawing people, form is of the highest importance as any little skewing creates a block to the eye. We are trained as human beings to recognize people to the minute detail, especially people's faces. When the symmetry does not line up, our eye will try to fix it and will return to the error until it does so. This means the first 30min of the drawing is the most important part to get right, and the rest will flow easily.
Little closer up. The color of the paper is coming through as very light due to the fact that I have taken a digital photo with lots of natural light. The color of the paper is more cream based and I will make sure to take a photo this evening to record the difference.
