Collage in a few steps

This collage was made for my son Xavier's Kindergarten teacher who's retiring this year.  This is my second go on reproducing this photo in a collage. I decided to snap a few photos of the process.  Took around 3 hours of work, non-simultaneous (I do have three kids all under 7 years old and they do need their father to be more than just a visual artist!)  

This picture works well for the type of collage I create due to it's dynamic perspective, figure in a captivating pose, "calm" nature, and childhood celebrated.  Composition wise, there's a clear foreground, middle ground, and background.  The overall feel is very poster like in my opinion ("come visit the zoo", "explore the great outdoors", "learning..."  lot's of possible titles or headlines come to mind).
