Marina is a neighbor of mine. I drew this portrait off of a camera phone picture that her mom sent to me. Her pose was a little unique, with her arms forward, crossed, and holding a cupcake. I didn't know if I wanted to just draw her head and include just a little shoulder but as it progressed, the pose turned out to be a positive and gave this portrait a more "childlike" natural feel. Feel good about it, the eyes turned out good and that's the key, in my opinion, to have a portrait work.
