Our Old Neighbors

These are portraits of our old neighboors when we lived in the Maple Leaf/Ravenna neighborhood in Seattle. Great family and always fun to hang out with. In the summer times we would often spend hours out in the front with whatever games the kids would come up with (Include dad's in the "kids" statement). When my family and I were dealing with cancer, they showed us love in many ways and were a great support. I have planned many times to draw their portraits and finally stumbled on some pictures that were accidently downloaded on the laptop during one of their visits to our new house.

Greg and Josie's picture was a great one to start with due to it's little unusual pose and contemplative look on Greg's place. Neither of them are looking directly at us which gives room for other conversations and thoughts occuring in the picture.

Finn and Chris's picture is a mashup of two seperate pictures. In my opinion it is not as convincing as the first due to several technical flaws, among them Finn's head being larger than Chris'. I still like the picture but had to hesitate to give it as a gift or not (I'm super picky and do not like to put portraits out there that don't fully realize what I want them to be).

Technical stuff: Charcoal Pencils mostly 2Bs, on Strathmore charcoal paper 12" by 12" (slight greyish tint). Completed time 3.5 hours combined.
