Two Father's day gifts. 11 by 14 charcoal on blue tinted paper. These were drawn mostly after 9pm after a full day of teaching preschool SPED and playing with my two boys in the evening. If I were working with color, pastel or acrylic, I would not be able to pull it off since my lighting source is mostly from our dining room or living room lamps (heavily leaning towards yellow/brown). In fact, when I take a picture of my artwork in this light, my white backgrounds take on a great antique look and lean toward a sepia/brown tint. It's actually rather interesting to draw a portrait late into the night and wake up in the morning and see the results in a different light. Most of the time it works, and if something needs to be edited it can be done easily. However I do not recommend this method to aspiring artist, draw with the proper lighting please!
